Ireland under-21 clash abandoned after alleged racist abuse aimed at Irish sub
Ireland’s under-21s friendly international against Kuwait’s under-22 outfit was abandoned after an alleged racist remark was made towards an Irish substitute.
Jim Crawford’s men were leading 3-0 at the time with goals from Conor Carty, Ollie O’Neill and Aidomo Emakhu.
But as the game entered its closing stages, the clash was abandoned with the FAI confirming as such - with a Kuwaiti player alleged to have made a racist remark to an Irish sub.
“The FAI regrets to announce that today’s under-21 international against Kuwait has been abandoned after a racist remark was made by a Kuwaiti player towards one of our substitutes,” a statement read.
“The FAI does not tolerate any racism towards any of our players or staff and will be reporting this serious matter to Fifa and Uefa.”
