Stockport County has announced the signing of Salford City captain Ibou Touray in a free transfer.

The official transfer will take place on July 1, 2023, when Touray's current contract with Salford expires. He has agreed to a two-year deal with the club.

Ibou Touray, who is a left-sided defender, is departing Salford as their record appearance maker, having played in 272 games over a six-year period. Prior to joining Salford in 2017, Touray played for Nantwich Town.

During his time at Salford, Touray contributed significantly to the team's success, including back-to-back promotions into the EFL and a victory in the National League play-offs. He was also part of the team that won the Papa John’s Trophy in their first EFL campaign.

Touray was recognised as the club’s Supporters’ and Club Player of the Year, and also earned a place in the League Two Team of the Season twice in the last three years.

In addition to his club career, Touray has international experience with 19 caps for Gambia since his debut in 2015. He was part of the team that qualified for the African Cup of Nations for the first time in the country’s history.

Touray is set to join his new teammates at Stockport for training at the end of June, ahead of their pre-season trip to Pinatar.
