Romeo Beckham seals permanent move to Brentford
Romeo Beckham, son of football legend David Beckham, has officially signed a one-year deal with Brentford.
The club announced that Beckham, who was previously on loan from Inter Miami CF, has joined on a permanent basis. Brentford also has the option to extend his contract by another year.
The 20-year-old midfielder spent the latter part of the 2022/23 season with Brentford's B team, contributing to their successful campaign that culminated in lifting the Premier League Cup in May.
Beckham managed to net a goal against the National League side, Wealdstone, aiding in a thrilling 3-2 victory in the Middlesex Senior Cup.
Apart from his stint with Brentford, Beckham also played a role for Inter Miami II, earning them a sixth-place finish in the Eastern Conference.
His performance was marked by 10 assists during his 20 appearances for the club.
Brentford B's head coach, Neil MacFarlane, expressed his satisfaction over Beckham's decision to extend his stay.
"We added Romeo to our squad in January and he’s been fantastic for the group," MacFarlane said.
He further added, "He’s had a terrific end to the season in terms of his recent match against Manchester City where he showed what he’s learned during his loan with us. We’ve continued to develop him in and out of possession and we look forward to him coming back in good spirits to continue working with him next season."
Beckham, who made his debut against teams such as Monaco, AIK Fotboll, and Halmstads BK in the Atlantic Cup, will be looking to enhance his promising start to life in West London as he prepares for the upcoming season with Brentford.
