Lanzini set to leave West Ham as others secure new deals

West Ham United's popular Argentine midfielder, Manuel Lanzini, will leave the club when his contract expires on June 30, as confirmed by the London club.

Lanzini joined the Hammers from United Arab Emirates side Al Jazira in 2015 and made 226 appearances, scoring 32 goals across his eight seasons.

He won the club’s Goal of the Season award twice and marked his final home game with a goal in a 3-1 victory over Leeds United.

West Ham United manager, David Moyes, talking to the club's official website, praised Lanzini, saying, "Manu has been a tremendous servant for the football club and a brilliant player for me in my time here as manager. Manu is a fantastic professional, a really good lad, and whichever club he joins will have an excellent player on their hands."

Sporting Director Mark Noble added, "When he first walked into Chadwell Heath, as a 21-year-old on loan, I looked at Manu and thought: ‘He might struggle in the Premier League.’ Ten minutes later, I saw him in training and thought: ‘He’s going to be one of the most special players West Ham fans will ever see.’"

However, Lanzini is not the only player departing the club this summer.

Ademipo Odubeko, Armstrong Oko-Flex, Brian Kinnear, Asher Falase, and Jamal Baptiste are also set to leave.

Odubeko, who arrived at the Academy from Manchester United in 2019, found the net 28 times in 28 games across the Academy sides.

Oko-Flex joined from Celtic in 2021 and scored 14 goals in 35 occasions for the U21 side.

In contrast, scholars Ryan Battrum, Billy Bates, Sean Tarima, and Mason Terry have all signed their first professional contracts with the club.

Angelo Ogbonna has been offered a new contract to extend his eight-year stay with the Hammers.
