Blackpool snaps up Albie Morgan in three-year contract
Blackpool has welcomed its first summer signing, securing midfielder Albie Morgan from Charlton Athletic on a three-year contract, with the option for an additional year.
Morgan, a key figure at Charlton Athletic since the age of eight, has made over 100 appearances for the Addicks' first team.
Head Coach Neil Critchley warmly welcomed the new addition, stating, “I’m pleased to welcome Albie to Blackpool. At 23, he’s at a good age and he will help us play the football we want to play. I look forward to working with him."
On joining Blackpool, Morgan said, "I'm delighted to be here and looking forward to a fresh start. Hopefully, I can hit the ground running quickly and contribute as much as possible."
The 23-year-old midfielder also mentioned having positive discussions with Critchley and former Blackpool player Charlie Kirk, which influenced his decision to join the Seasiders.
Morgan, whose contract with Charlton Athletic has ended, spoke fondly of his time with his boyhood club.
"I've been at Charlton Athletic since I was eight years old, and I'm now looking forward to new beginnings," he expressed.
Morgan, known for his goal-scoring prowess and ability to create opportunities, aims to contribute significantly to Blackpool's performance in the upcoming season.
He described his playing style, saying, "I'm a central midfielder who likes to get up and down the pitch. I love to provide others with a good chance on goal. I hope to play as many games as possible and be part of a team that can achieve something special."
