Blackburn Rovers have added to their ranks by securing the services of Norway international Sondre Tronstad on a three-year contract.

The 27-year-old midfielder, a free transfer from Dutch Eredivisie side Vitesse Arnhem, is the second player to join the Rovers this summer.

With a wealth of experience in European and top-tier football, Tronstad has commited to Ewood Park until June 2026.

Having begun his football journey with IK Start in his home country, Tronstad made his debut for the team in May 2012, at the tender age of 16.

Following a key role in winning promotion for IK Start to Norway's top division and making 23 appearances for the club, Tronstad was transferred to Huddersfield Town in January 2014 at the age of 18, after a successful trial period.

In 2016, he made his way back to his homeland, joining FK Haugesund where he chalked up over 100 appearances and participated in two Europa League campaigns.

His impressive performance caught the attention of Vitesse Arnhem, leading to a move in January 2020.

Known for his comfort on the ball, technical skills, and an impressive passing range, the deep-lying midfielder earned his first cap later that same year.

Tronstad played the entire match in Norway's 1-1 stalemate with Austria in the UEFA Nations League.

In his debut season with Vitesse, Tronstad helped the team secure a fourth-place finish.

The following season, he played all 14 of their Europa Conference League games and played a pivotal role in securing a top-six finish in the league.

Tronstad has been a consistent presence on the field, making over 100 appearances and netting nine goals for Vitesse over the past three years.

Tronstad will officially join the Blackburn Rovers alongside fellow summer signing Niall Ennis on July 1st.
