Ireland international Ciaran Clark leaves Newcastle United
Newcastle United have confirmed the departure of Ireland international defender Ciaran Clark upon the expiry of his contract at St James’ Park.
Clark, 33, has played for the Magpies since August 2016 when he joined the club from Aston Villa.
However, he spent last season on loan at Sheffield United and won promotion to the Premier League from the Championship during that period.
He made 127 appearances for the Magpies in all competitions, scoring 11 times.
And last season was the second time he won promotion to the Premier League from the Championship – achieving the same feat in his first season at Newcastle in the 2016/17 campaign.
Meanwhile, Jeff Hendrick has returned to the club after a spell on loan with Reading.
Newcastle United has confirmed the club's retained list for the 2023/24 season.#NUFC thanks all of the players leaving St. James' Park for their efforts and wishes them every success for the future.
