Ethan Pinnock commits to Brentford with four-year contract extension
Since joining the Bees from Barnsley in 2019, Pinnock has made 153 appearances, netting seven goals in his tenure. The most recent goal came during Brentford’s 3-3 draw against Brighton and Hove Albion in April.
Thomas Frank, the head coach of Brentford, expressed his delight at securing Pinnock's services for the next four years. “Ethan has been a mountain in defence for us for the last four years. He has been instrumental in our journey to the top half of the Premier League. He's not only a top player but a great person as well."
Frank praised Pinnock's remarkable progression from non-league to Premier League football. He also expressed confidence in the player's potential for further development. Frank highlighted Pinnock's significant impact in both boxes and expressed anticipation for more goals from him next season.
Pinnock's journey began in 2010 at Dulwich Hamlet before he climbed up the non-league ladder to join Forest Green Rovers in the National League in 2016. His first season with the Rovers saw them promoted to the EFL, and this success led to a move to Championship side Barnsley ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.
The Jamaican international, with six caps for the Reggae Boyz under his belt, played 67 times for Barnsley before his move to Brentford in 2019.
Pinnock has been a critical part of Brentford's successful campaign, helping them achieve Premier League promotion in 2020/21. In the club's two seasons in the top flight, he has made 61 appearances.
As the Premier League season reaches its climax, Brentford, currently occupying the 9th position in the league, is gearing up for a challenging final fixture against Manchester City today.
