Jamie Sterry signs two-year deal with Doncaster Rovers
Doncaster Rovers have secured the signing of right back Jamie Sterry on a two-year deal.
The 27-year-old player is coming from Hartlepool United, where he made 102 appearances during his two-and-a-half-year tenure.
Upon signing, Sterry expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I’m delighted to get it done, especially after speaking to the gaffer. Knowing a lot about the club, playing here a few times, I’m absolutely over the moon. I had a lot of conversations with different clubs but this one felt right with me after speaking with the manager. I know how big the club is and the ambition is for the club to get promoted.”
Before his time at Hartlepool United, Sterry played at Newcastle United, where he climbed through the ranks and signed professional terms at the age of 19.
He also gained experience through loan spells at Coventry City and Crewe Alexandra.
Grant McCann, Doncaster Rovers manager, spoke highly of the new recruit, saying, “It’s a really good signing for us. I’ve been a fan for many years now - probably rolling back to when he was at Newcastle and when we played their U21s in the EFL Trophy when I was here. He’s a good character, a really good player, his physical abilities and the way he wants to get forward.”
This latest addition to the squad follows the arrivals of Ian Lawlor and Richard Wood earlier in the summer, marking Sterry as the third signing for Doncaster Rovers during this period.
