Blackburn Rovers secure Niall Ennis as first summer signing from Plymouth Argyle
Blackburn Rovers have announced the signing of Niall Ennis from Plymouth Argyle as their first acquisition of the summer.
The 24-year-old striker is set to join the club on a free transfer on July 1st and has agreed to a four-year contract at Ewood Park, which extends until June 2027. The contract also includes the option of an additional year.
Ennis, who has a track record of being a versatile and speedy attacker, started his football journey with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
He made his debut during an FA Cup match against Shrewsbury Town, a club where he would later spend time on loan during the 2017-18 season. Following this, he had loan stints with Doncaster Rovers and Burton Albion.
In January 2021, Ennis made a move to Plymouth Argyle, where he immediately made an impact by scoring on his debut in a 2-2 draw against Accrington Stanley. He netted six goals during the second half of the 2021-22 season.
His productivity hit a new high last season when he scored 14 goals in all competitions, significantly contributing to Plymouth's promotion to the Championship.Three of his goals came in the last four league fixtures, aiding the Pilgrims in securing the League One title with an impressive total of 101 points.
The young striker, known for his strength, speed, energy, and enthusiasm, was recognized as one of the country's top talents in his teenage years. He has represented England at various youth levels, ranging from Under-16s to Under-19s.
