Stephen Quinn, Mansfield Town's experienced midfielder, has shown his gratitude towards the club and its loyal supporters following the signing of a new one-year contract.

The 37-year-old player, initially joining the club on a loan in January 2021, quickly transformed into a fans' favourite and a pivotal component in Nigel Clough’s squad.

Quinn’s appreciation for the fans and staff who pushed for his contract renewal was apparent. He remarked, "I’m very grateful to the club for giving me another season."

Excited about the prospect of continuing his journey with the club, Quinn further noted, "I’m buzzing. I can’t wait. Bring on next season.”

Quinn also highlighted his ambition to help Mansfield Town move up from their current league, a goal he shares with the club’s management.

The Irish player acknowledged that the decision to sign a new contract was influenced by several factors, but the primary one was his ambition to get the club out of their current league.

Reflecting on the past season, Quinn pointed out the challenges faced by the club, primarily injuries to key players. Nonetheless, he expressed optimism for the upcoming season, emphasising the importance of maintaining the health of the squad's talented players.

He said, “There are some great players in our squad, so we just need to keep them on the pitch and that’ll be a driving force for us next season.”

With the recent addition of forward Will Swan from Nottingham Forest, Quinn expressed his admiration for the club’s commitment to success. He expressed his excitement about Swan's arrival, lauding it as a reflection of the club’s ambitious plans.

He was also full of praise for the young forward, stating, “Swanny deserves it, he’s been brilliant, and he’s got a hell of a future ahead of him."

Regarding his own future, the former Republic of Ireland international remained open-ended, saying he is unsure if this will be his last season. Yet, his ambition remained clear as he added, "I would love to finish on a promotion.”
