Ipswich Town announces departure of midfielder Matt Healy and defender Richard Keogh ahead of new season
After a successful season that resulted in their promotion back to the Championship, the Suffolk club is releasing ten academy players, including Matt Healy, as it prepares for the 2023/24 season.
Since joining the team from College Corinthians in 2018, Healy did not make any first-team starts. The attacking midfielder is currently on loan with Premier Division Cork City. He managed to score four goals in 26 appearances, contributing to the team's First Division title win. This season, he has scored once in five appearances.
Healy's loan spell is set to end on the 30th of June.
In addition to Matt Healy, other imminent departures from Ipswich Town include Joel Coleman, Richard Keogh, Matt Penney, and Kane Vincent-Young, all of whom will see their contracts expire this coming summer.
Former Ireland international Keogh, who began his career in the club's academy, returned to the Blues the previous summer. During his tenure, he took to the field 16 times, leading the squad as captain during a Papa Johns Trophy match against Arsenal U21 last September.
