Jenna Slattery Wins SSE Airtricity Women's Premier Division Player of the Month Award
Galway United's Jenna Slattery has been awarded the SSE Airtricity Women's Premier Division Player of the Month for April 2023. Currently second in the league and also in the running for the Golden Boot Award, Slattery's impressive performances, including goals against Sligo Rovers and DLR Waves, have contributed to her overall tally of four goals this season.
The 19-year-old midfielder has played a vital role in Galway United's six-game unbeaten run. Slattery was selected for the award over Peamount United's Sadhbh Doyle and Shamrock Rovers' Jess Gargan.
Slattery expressed her gratitude for the recognition, saying, "It's a great honour to win this award. To be able to get recognition for my ability on the park means a lot to me, but without my teammates and the club behind me, I wouldn't be able to get this award." She added that she aims to help the team by scoring even more goals in the future.
Commenting on Galway United's underestimated potential, Slattery stated, "From coming in at the start of the season being a new club, we were underestimated. I wasn't really surprised at the way we have started. By all means, there is still a lot more for us to get to, but I'm really happy with how we're going."
