Ex Cork City defender Ryan Delaney and former Ireland underage international Dan Crowley to depart Morecambe

Former Cork City central defender Ryan Delaney is set to leave relegated League One side Morecambe after a two-year stint with the club.

Delaney, 26, is a league winning defender with Cork City and claimed a league title at Turner’s Cross during the 2017 campaign.

He also won an FAI Cup with City during the same season and also won the First Division with Wexford Youths in 2015.

After leaving Youths in 2016 he joined Burton Albion – where he was on loan from during his success with Cork City.

After that, the defender returned to England to sign for Rochdale. He then signed for Wimbledon before then joining Bolton Wanderers.

But after a spell with Bolton, he joined Morecambe for the 2021/22 season where he made 13 appearances for the club.

He later joined Scunthorpe United on loan but returned to the Shrimpers ahead of the 2022/23 campaign where he played 32 times.

But following their relegation to League Two, Delaney has left the club alongside former Ireland underage international Dan Crowley.

“My thanks also to the further departures who will always be able to look back, with pride, at the fact they played for Morecambe in League One,” Morecambe boss Dereck Adams said.

“These players have given as much as they possibly could for the club and created some memorable moments for Morecambe along the way.”
