League Preview: Treaty United -v- Waterford

TREATY UNITED

Tommy Barrett’s Treaty United welcome rejuvenated Waterford to the RSC on Monday night as they eye a home win against their Munster rivals (kick-off is at 7.45pm).

The Shannonsiders claimed a point away to Cobh Ramblers on Friday night and have enjoyed an upturn in results over the last number of weeks.

A home win against Longford Town helped steer their campaign in the right direction after a winless start.

And that was their last home success as they welcome the Blues to the Market’s Field this evening.

However, they are expected to go into the game without the services of Marc Ludden, Mark Walsh and goalkeeper Connor Winn.

But key men Willie Armshaw and Enda Curran may return.

WATERFORD

After a winning start to life under new boss Keith Long, Waterford take on Treaty United in a big to keep pace with league leaders Galway United.

The Blues have impressed under their new gaffer but come into Monday’s clash with a point to prove after a narrow win against Athlone Town on Friday.

Waterford raced into a 4-0 lead before almost being pegged back by the Co Westmeath side to claim a 4-3 success.

“We were excellent in the first half,” Long said about Friday’s game.

“We scored some really good goals and it was a complete performance in the first half but it was the complete opposite in the second half and we have lots of areas to work on.

“Monday is another tough away fixture [v Treaty United].

“We need to make sure we marry the positives [from Friday’s win] with some of the negatives that we need to improve on, to keep getting better as we go.”

Matthew Connor is expected to miss out but is closing in on a return.

Meanwhile, Harvey Warren and Wassim Aouachria continue to recover from recent injuries which saw both miss Friday’s win over Athlone.

Referee: Marc Lynch.
