League Preview: Sligo Rovers -v- UCD
SLIGO ROVERS
Sligo Rovers will be looking to claim another home league win when they take on UCD at the Showgrounds (kick-off is at 7.45pm).
The Bit O’ Red came out on top during the side’s last encounter at the UCD Bowl thanks to a narrow 3-2 win in Belfield.
And they know that a win will catapult them further up the table against the Students this evening.
“We are all looking forward to another home game on Saturday night in front of a packed Showgrounds,” boss John Russell said.
“UCD will be coming down full of confidence after their win last week against Cork City so we need to be ready for what is a massive game’’.
“I have such belief in our group of players. They have shown really good signs so far this season.
“We know the areas we need to improve on but it’s vital that we continue to impose our style and our game on the opposition.”
UCD
Fresh from their first league win of the season against Cork City, UCD travel to Sligo in a bid to claim a second consecutive win.
Ciaran Behan’s goal saw off the Leesiders in their last outing but they face a stiff test against a Sligo side who have blown hot and cold this season.
But they have at least had an eight-day break between games and their manager Andy Myler is hoping that his side can use their break to their advantage.
“Sometimes you need a recovery time between games,” Myler said when speaking to LOI TV.
“We have a couple of knocks at the moment so that will do us no harm.
“We have to be more difficult to score against, and we have been over the last number of weeks.
“That’s a good thing and we have to keep building on that. We need to keep building on it as part of our game.
“It was good to get the win out of the way against Cork because the wait can build up.”
