Turner able to choose his own club

The tug-of-war over midfielder Chris Turner could be set to end after the Dispute Resolution Chamber found that he is deemed a free agent and thus able to sign for whichever club that he chooses.
After standing out for Dundalk last season, the former Northern Ireland U-21 international was in demand as soon as the 2009 campaign came to a close.
Sligo Rovers were the first club to move for him and announced that they had secured his signature. However, complications cropped up as it was reported that the wrong paperwork had been used when the transfer was being processed.
Shamrock Rovers felt that the player was once again a free agent and invited him to train with them. But when they attempted to register Turner for the 2010 season an objection was lodged by Sigo.
That prompted an investigation, which the Dispute Resolution Chamber oversaw and have now concluded that Turner is indeed free to choose the club that he wants to play for.
"Under the rules of the FAI, the Dispute Resolution Chamber sat today [Thursday March 11] to consider the case put forward by Shamrock Rovers F.C., Sligo Rovers F.C., the League of Ireland and Chris Turner on the status of Chris Turner's registration for the 2010 season," read a statement on the Shamrock Rovers official website.
"The decision of the DRC was that Chris Turner "is not a participant of the National league and is a free agent, entitled to sign for any club and seek registration of an SPC" (standard player's contract).
"They ruled on some other matters pertaining to the case but of main significance to Shamrock Rovers F.C. is that Chris Turner has been deemed a free agent.
"Also in their determination was a note that "there is a possibility of an appeal to arbitration pursuant to Article 31 of the SPC and Article 33 of the FAI DRC Regulations within 10 days". Shamrock Rovers F.C. will await developments with regard to any appeal by the noted parties before making any further comment or action."
