Fresh injury blow for Parkhouse

Stephen Parkhouse has emerged as an injury concern for Derry City after feeling a reaction to a knee complaint during the first game of the First Division season.

The experienced striker appeared as a 52nd replacement in the draw with Cork City Foras Co-op, but it was clear from his first few minutes on the pitch that all was not well.

Parkhouse had been carrying the knock going into the game and then felt discomfort when training on Sunday. So it is likely that he will miss this week's trip to Jackman Park to face Limerick.

"His [Parkhouse] knee wasn't quite right during our session on Sunday and he may not be involved next weekend in Limerick," Kenny told the Derry Journal.

"But these are things we have to contend with. At this stage he has to be considered doubtful for the match but we're not sure about the extent of the injury.

"The problem appears to be coming from scar tissue in Stephen's knee and it affects him when he attempts to strike the ball a certain way."
