League Preview: Wexford -v- Treaty United

WEXFORD

Injury-ravaged Wexford will be looking to get back to winning ways on Friday night when they host Treaty United at Ferrycarrig Park (kick-off is at 7.45pm).

The Slaneysiders fell to defeat in their last game against Bray Wanderers despite leading in the game at the Carlisle Grounds.

And that defeat saw them slump to another loss as new boss James Keddy attempts to gel his side together after a turbulent off-season at the club.

And Keddy has also been forced to contend with a hefty injury list so far this season.

Already, Thomas Considine, Aaron Robinson, Conor Levingston, Kian Corbally, Brandon McCann, Reece Webb and Evan Farrell have suffered injuries.

But that has given young players like Kaylem Harnett the chance to shine in the League of Ireland - aged just 15.

And ahead of the visit of Treaty United to Wexford on Friday, their boss is expecting a tough game.

He explained: ““Looking at Treaty at the minute they are in a false position.

“Tommy has worked wonders for his club over the last couple of years. We expect a very competitive game this evening and we will do our best to be ready for the challenge.”

TREATY UNITED

Treaty United have also endured a difficult start to the season – with no wins picked up so from their opening five games.

Their only points came away to Kerry and Athlone Town, and their scheduled game at home to Waterford last week was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at the Market’s Field.

But they went mightily close to a win in their last away day outing against Athlone and they will be hoping to build on their performances this campaign at Ferrycarrig Park.

“I think it is hard to decipher who will get into fourth and fifth spot this season,” boss Tommy Barrett told Off The Ball this week.

“In the past you could see who would finish between fourth to sixth early on. But it will take time and the extension of the league will make it more interesting.”

Referee: David Dunne.
