League Preview: Waterford -v- Bray Wanderers

WATERFORD

Waterford return to league action on Saturday afternoon as they seek their first home win of the season against Bray Wanderers (kick-off is at 3pm).

The Blues endured a patchy start but claimed a morale-boosting win against Athlone Town last weekend.

And having won all four games against Bray Wanderers last season, the Blues will be looking to maintain their good recent record against the Seagulls.

“Last season there was only a goal separating the sides in the clashes at the RSC and we know Ian has assembled a very good squad so we’ll have to be at our best,” Waterford boss Danny Searle said.

“They’re playing well and are unbeaten in their opening four matches so we can’t be complacent.

“It’s been a busy few weeks and we have plenty more to play this month and we’re looking forward to getting back on the pitch.

“Last week was all about getting more points on the board. We have a target for each series of matches and that’s what we’re still aiming towards.”

Matthew Connor is Waterford’s only absentee for the game.

BRAY WANDERERS

Bray Wanderers will be looking to return to winning ways when they visit the RSC On Saturday afternoon.

The Seagulls have drawn their last two league games against Longford Town and Finn Harps.

But they did win their last game in the Leinster Senior Cup against Shamrock Rovers at the Carlisle Grounds.

“It’s a brilliant match for us. There’s no pressure on us at all,” Bray boss Ian Ryan said.

“We’ve started really well. We’re not expected to go there and beat Waterford with the investment they’ve made and the quality they have.

“I think the win last Monday against Shamrock Rovers in the Leinster Senior Cup was really good.

“I think it was the longest period of play where we were ourselves, where we want to be.

“It’s about now trying to get into our rhythm and trying to do that for 95 odd minutes each week.”

Dave Webster remains out through injury while Ger Shortt and Chris Lyons are doubts.
