League Report: Treaty United 0 - 3 Cobh Ramblers
Michael Cooke reports from the Markets Field
A three-goal salvo in the second-half saw Cobh Ramblers score their first ever victory over Treaty United at the Markets Field.
The Rams never managed a win in their seven previous meetings since Treaty’s debut season. Friday’s milestone is another sign of progress under manager Shane Keegan.
Jack Doherty netted a brace while Wilson Waweru was also on target for the visitors. The result was a true reflection of Cobh’s superior attacking quality.
Shooting accuracy proved problematic for both sides inside the opening half-hour with neither goalkeeper properly tested.
Treaty came close on 35 minutes. Conor Barry’s right-wing cross found Enda Curran but his downward header was by Cobh goalkeeper Lee Steacy.
Two minutes later, Cobh were awarded a corner kick. Brendan Frahill headed Jack Doherty’s delivery into the hands of Shane Hallahan.
Treaty were awarded a free-kick on 38 minutes when Cian Browne fouled Success Edogun just outside the box.
Ludden found Curran inside the box and his shot was deflected onto the post. The danger was subsequently averted.
The initial stages of the second half were lacklustre but the deadlock was eventually broken on the hour mark.
Jack Doherty’s shot was deflected into the path of Issa Kargbo; his cross was headed in by Waweru at the far post.
Cobh doubled their advantage on 79 minutes. Doherty collected Pierce Phillip’s pass inside the box and slotted it in the bottom corner.
The visitors sealed victory six minutes from time. Doherty collected Luke Desmond’s through ball and fired home his third goal of the season from inside the box.
The result leaves Treaty without a win from their opening four games as their horrendous start to the season continues.
