Despite her young age, Mitchell is one of the longest standing members of the Treaty United squad and will be an important part of the continuity at the club for new manager Alban Hysa.

The defender has made almost 50 appearances for the Limerick side, and she enters her fourth season with the club.

With a lot of players arriving at Treaty having never played in the Women’s Premier Division, or making the step up from the Academy teams – Mitchell will be a steady hand for Treaty who knows just what it takes to play at this level.

Extratime.com One to Watch: Ciara McCormack

One of the most left field signings during the offseason that probably got talked about less given the extent of the movement across the league but former Republic of Ireland international Ciara McCormack joining Treaty for this season is quite the story.



The Canadian born defender has quite the storied career having played professionally in the USA, Canada, Denmark, Norway and Australia and she appeared for the Irish national team eight times between 2008 and 2010.

At 43 years of age she has come out of retirement to join Alban Hysa’s squad at Markets Field, while it remains to be seen how much she will feature, McCormack will add extensive experience to a team that has suffered from possibly being too youthful in recent years.

What to expect this season:

Last season was a tough one for Treaty United, just two points from 27 games and 110 goals conceded across the season makes for some tough reading.

But in 2023 – the only way is up for the Limerick side. They have a new manager, a new outlook and a new contingent of players from outside of Ireland that have played at different levels which should add some experience.

Experience is one thing they have lacked in recent years, particularly challenging to build when the best players at Treaty have often been signed by other clubs since they joined the league in 2020.



Something similar has happened again this season with Alix and Jesse Mendez both moving to Cork City during the winter but with the addition of players from abroad, some players hungry for first team football at other clubs and managing to hold on to a few experienced heads and United could well be in a better place this year.

Don’t expect a huge change in their league position this season, but Hysa and his squad have a target and the metrics to measure their success by – to be competitive in 2023 and then build further on that going forward.
