Quarter-final draw set for the Leinster Senior Cup as Crumlin United claim scalp against Longford Town
Crumlin United sealed their place in the quarter-final of the Leinster Senior Cup thanks to a penalty shootout win over Longford Town on Tuesday night.
Stephen Henderson’s Longford side took a first-half lead through James Doona in the 17th minute of the game.
But their Leinster Senior League opponents came from behind to see off De Town after a pulsating penalty shootout.
Martins levelled matters in the 28th minute after Longford took their early lead.
And with eight minutes of extra-time played, Willo McAdams struck from the spot to put United ahead for the first time.
But Longford Town hit back at the end of extra-time with former Drogheda United youngster Mohamed Boudiaf netting.
However, Longford Town were undone in a shootout as Jamal Ibrahim’s spot-kick was saved by former Shamrock Rovers netminder Kian Clarke.
They will now face Bohemians next in the competition after Declan Devine’s side saw off North End United in their last-16 clash.
Elsewhere, Damien Duff’s Shelbourne are set to face Wexford in the last-eight after the Reds were handed a bye against Dundalk in the previous round.
James Keddy’s Wexford saw off St Patrick’s Athletic 3-1 at Richmond Park in their tie last month.
And Drogheda United, who saw off Athlone Town 2-0, will face Usher Celtic after the Dublin junior side defeated Malahide United.
Meanwhile, Bray Wanderers are set to face Shamrock Rovers after the pair saw off New Oak Boys and UCD respectively.
