Watch: Will Patching scores opener as Derry City claim President’s Cup crown against Shamrock Rovers
Will Patching netted a close-range opener for Derry City as they claimed the President’s Cup on Friday evening.
The Candystripes strolled home to a 2-0 win against Shamrock Rovers at the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium.
Michael Duffy also scored in the 39th minute to seal the deal for Derry City as Leon Pohls failed to deal with his speculative long-range strike. But it was the Derry opener that set them on their way.
After a good run down the left flank, Duffy crossed the ball across the face of the six-yard box for Patching to slot home.

And the game was wrapped up just before the break when Duffy struck.
The lively winger’s tame shot squirmed underneath the legs of Pohls – and ended up sealing the cup for Candystripes at the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium.
