Shamrock Rovers add Chloe McCarthy to their roster
Chloe McCarthy is the latest player to sign for the Shamrock Rovers League of Ireland Women’s Premier Division squad.
“I am delighted to be joining Shamrock Rovers Football Club,” said McCarthy on Monday. “It’s a great opportunity for me to continue my development as a player. The set-up here is so professional and I can’t wait to get started”.
The defender began her League of Ireland career at Shelbourne where she played with their WU17 side in 2018. She spent two and a half seasons in the Reds' underage system, moving to DLR Waves in 2021 where she spent two seasons with their WU19 side.
She now makes the step up to senior women’s football with the Hoops.
The club’s Head of Women’s football Jason Carey said: “Chloe had a fantastic season last year which brought her to our attention. She reads the game very well and is a player with great potential, she can play in a number of different defensive positions which is great for us to have in the squad."
She is the 20th player to sign for Rovers as they return to the top level of women's club football in Ireland for the first time since 2014.
The Hoops promoted four players from their u19 team and have signed players from Shelbourne (six), Peamount United (six), Athlone Town (two) and one from Galway WFC.
