Conor Coventry joins Rotherham on loan from West Ham
Conor Coventry has completed a loan move from West Ham to Rotherham United on a deal until the end of the season.
Rotherham have been very active in the January transfer window and Coventry becomes, Matt Taylor’s fifth signing as he joins fellow Irishmen Chiedozie Ogbene and Georgie Kelly at the club.
Coventry is a central midfield player who came through the ranks with West Ham and was the captain of the Hammers Under-23 side in his youth.
The 22-year-old has also impressed during loan stints at Lincoln City, Peterborough and most recently, MK Dons in League One.
The Millers have won just two of their last 14 Sky Bet Championship games so the signing of Coventry will boost their hopes of staying in the second tier of English football.
Coventry made a Premier League appearance for David Moyes’ West Ham side and has been a regular for the Irons in the Carabao Cup and UEFA Europa Conference League.
Coventry proved a vital cog in Jim Crawford’s machine as the Republic of Ireland made history in qualifying for a UEFA European Championship U21 playoff before being beaten on penalties by Israel last year.
