Waterford re-sign veteran defender Eddie Nolan for the 2023 season
Waterford have announced that centre back Eddie Nolan has signed a new contract to remain with his home town club for the 2023 season.
The much travelled 34-year-old defender returned to his native city in July 2021 having spent 15 years in England and Scotland.
Nolan has previously played for Blackburn Rovers, Stockport County, Hartlepool United, Preston North End, Sheffield Wednesday, York City and Blackpool as well as having a five month loan spell with Motherwell in 2021.
Along the way he amassed 12 caps for the Ireland U-21 side and also gained three full senior caps, the first of which was in a 1-1 draw against Nigeria in May 2009.
He made 19 appearances for Waterford during the 2022 season, bringing his career total to 389 to date, so it is highly likely he will pass the landmark 400 appearances mark in this upcoming season as Danny Searle’s side make a determined push for promotion back to the Premier Division.
