Matthew Connor joins Waterford
Waterford FC have announced the signing of Matthew Connor ahead of the 2023 First Division campaign.
The goalkeeper signs on for his fourth stint with his hometown club having spent the 2022 season with John Caulfield’s Galway United.
“I am delighted to be back in Waterford again. I didn’t want to leave my hometown club in the past so I can’t wait to get back to work and to meet up with the group again,” Connor said, speaking to the club’s website.
“Obviously, I was here in 2017 when we won the league and it is one of my best memories in football and something I want to achieve again this season.
“The club looks to be really pushing on with Danny and the new owners, so to have the opportunity to come back and be part of it is something I am excited about.
“The last few seasons have thrown a lot of setbacks my way, but I can’t wait to get the gloves back on and ultimately get back on the pitch and help the club to get back to where we belong.”
Conor began his career with Waterford in 2014 and has had spells with Wexford and Cork City along with two stints at Eamonn Deacy Park with Galway United.
