Cobh Ramblers land services of Jack Doherty
Cobh Ramblers have announced the signing of Wexford’s Jack Doherty for the 2023 season.
The Carrick-on-Suir man signs after impressing in the south-east during the 2022 campaign, scoring six goals in the First Division.
The 28-year-old has plenty of League of Ireland experience having plied his trade with Waterford, Limerick and Longford before joining Wexford in 2019.
He returned to Longford for a brief spell before settling in Ferrycarrig Park for the past two-and-a-half seasons.
Doherty revealed his delight to be Shane Keegan’s first signing at Cobh for 2023: “I’m absolutely delighted to sign with Ramblers. I can’t wait to get going and I cannot wait to meet the supporters of Cobh.
“Shane is building an exciting team ahead of the 2023 season and I am delighted to be part of it. I’m looking forward to getting going in January.”
Keegan revealed that Doherty has been a player on his radar for some time: “I’m delighted that Jack has joined the club, he’s a player I’ve known for some time, going as far as back as our shared time in the Regional Development Centres.
“He’s often been a thorn in my side, so I am delighted to finally have him in one of my teams.”
Doherty joins defenders Brendeán Frahill and Justin Eguaibor, alongside midfielders Jason Abbott and Pierce Phillips, and striker Jake Hegarty at St. Colman’s Park, with all five having re-signed for the coming season.
