Cork City re-sign pair Josh Honohan and Darragh Crowley for 2023
Cork City academy graduates Darragh Crowley and Josh Honohan have resigned for the Leesiders for their 2023 campaign.
Crowley was a key player for Colin Healy’s charges in 2022 making 25 league appearances.
His versatility proved to be beneficial to Cork in their First Division title winning season earning him a place in Healy’s squad for their re-entry to the top flight.
Commenting on Crowley’s abilities Healy said: “Darragh has been a very good player for us since I came in.
“He’s played in several different positions, and he will always give you everything no matter where you ask him to play.”
Honohan also made a significant impact for City in the second half of the 2022 season making 17 appearances and providing necessary depth in defensive positions.
Healy commented on the promise he showed in 2022: “Josh came into the team midway through the season, and he fitted in really well.
“We know the quality he has, so it was great for him to get a proper run in the team.
“He is a player who we feel can get even better and we are looking forward to seeing him in action next season.”
Crowley and Honohan join Cian Coleman, Cian Murphy, Barry Coffey, Aaron Bolger, Ruairi Keating, Joos Häkkinen, Ally Gilchrist, Cian Bargery and Jimmy Corcoran from last season’s First Division title winning squad, while the Leesiders have also recruited Ethon Varian from Bohemians and Tunde Owolabi from St. Patrick’s Athletic.
The Rebel Army will be hoping to cement themselves as a Premier Division club once more in 2023.
