Cork City re-sign defender Ally Gilchrist

Cork City’s manager Colin Healy has announced his latest re-signing ahead of the 2023 season – retaining Ally Gilchrist.

City had a successful season last year in which they won the First Division title and promotion back to the Premier Division.

And they have been very proactive in retaining the core element of the side for the campaign ahead.  

Crucial to their success last year was the arrival of Gilchrist.

The 27-year-old became a mainstay in the backline and provided real presence and leadership.

He was one of the major reasons they secured 17 clean sheets and one of the best defensive records in the division.

 When speaking with CorkCityFC.ie, the defender set out his aims: “Next year is another challenge for us, and one we are looking forward to.

“We will be at home on the first day of the season, so I am sure Turners Cross will be rocking for that.

“It is great for the club to be back in the Premier Division, and we are all looking forward to getting back underway after Christmas.”

Cork City start their season against Bohemians on the 17^th of February.
