Ireland move to all-time high in women’s world rankings
On Friday, as the men’s World Cup reached the quarter-final stage, FIFA announced updated women’s world rankings with the Republic of Ireland moving to an all-time high of 23.
There have been 48 women’s internationals played since October including Ireland’s 4-0 win over Morocco last month which helped the Girls in Green move up one place on the rankings.
USA remain top despite losing three of their last four matches, including a 2-1 defeat to the Germany who sit second. Sweden, who topped Ireland’s World Cup qualifying group, have dropped one place to third while England remain fourth and France fifth.
Brilliant to see Ireland WNT 🇮🇪 move up to 2️⃣3️⃣rd in FIFA Women's World Rankings - an all-time high!
