Finn Harps relegated after defeat to UCD
Finn Harps have been relegated from the Premier Division after a 3-1 defeat against UCD on Friday night.
The Donegal side took the lead through Conor Tourish but the Students hit back immediately through Mark Dignam with Thomas Lonergan scoring in the 74th minute and again from the penalty spot in the 79th minute to send Harps down.
Tonight’s result brings to an end a four season stay in the Premier Division for Finn Harps after they secured promotion through the 2018 playoffs when they defeated Limerick FC.
Harps are now six points behind UCD with just one game left in the season.
Ollie Horgan’s men failed to beat UCD in all four of their meetings with the Students this season, losing three of the games, results which ultimately cost them their Premier Division status with UCD securing ninth place.
This is the second time Harps have been relegated under the stewardship of Horgan, they were promoted in 2015 and had a two season stay in the top flight before relegation in 2017.
