League Preview: Wexford Youths -v- Sligo Rovers

WEXFORD YOUTHS
Wexford head into this home fixture one point clear at the top of the table with three games to go in this exciting conclusion to the 2022 Women’s National League season.
The Youths lost their 10 game unbeaten streak when they suffered two defeats to Athlone before the international break in both the league and the cup.
The 2-1 league defeat produced an early Aoibheann Clancy penalty giving the Youths a positive start but an equalizer in the first half and an 81st minute winner created a tougher end to this season for both sides.
SLIGO ROVERS
Sligo are currently winless in their last six games and have won just twice since the previous meeting between the two teams back in June.
Sligo may be the underdogs in this fixture, however they have claimed wins over top sides Shelbourne, Wexford and Peamount this season.
The 3-2 victory over Shelbourne was the last win for the Bit O’Red which came in July at The Showgrounds. Before the international break, they snatched a 1-1 draw against Treaty.

MATCH STATS
The most recent meeting for the sides was back in June when Sligo secured a 1-0 win at The Showgrounds. Emma Doherty scored the 67th minute winner with Wexford having a late penalty saved in the 93rd minute.
The Youths dominated the initial fixture earlier this year when they beat Sligo 2-0 after goals from Becky Watkins and Ciara Rossiter.
There are currently 30 points between the two teams going into this round of fixtures. While the Youths sit on top of the table, Sligo lie in eighth place. The match will be broadcast live on TG4 this Saturday evening with a 16:30pm kick-off.
