Ireland have found out who they will face in their qualifying campaign for the 2024 UEFA European Championships.

The draw was held in Frankfurt on Sunday morning and Stephen Kenny’s men have been drawn in Group B alongside the Netherlands, France, Greece and Gibraltar.

Qualifiers are set to begin in March 2023 with Ireland in possibly one of the toughest groups they could have been placed in.

The Dutch and Ireland have some history in qualifying campaigns with the countries facing each other in qualifying games for the 2002 World Cup with Ireland securing a draw in Amsterdam and winning at Lansdowne Road.

Ireland’s history with the current World Cup Champions France is fairly significant with Les Bleus knocking the Boys in Green out of Euro 2016 and a famous hand ball in a playoff for qualification for the 2010 World Cup meaning France went to South Africa ahead of the Irish.

Greece have never faced Ireland in competitive action and the last time the side faced was in a friendly match in Dublin in 2012 when the visitors saw off Giovanni Trapattoni’s men 1-0.

This will be the third time in a row that Gibraltar is placed in Ireland’s Euro qualifying group with the side being in the same group for the 2016 and 2020 tournaments.
