Galway United confirm intention to enter WNL
Galway United have confirmed that they will join the Women’s National League next season with the club entering senior, under 17 and under 19 teams next season.
The announcement comes over three weeks since Galway WFC, “reluctantly decided not to apply for inclusion in next season’s SSE Airtricity Women’s National League.”
A statement from the club today reads, “Galway United are delighted to confirm that they will be entering a senior women’s, under-17 and under-19 girls teams in 2023, ensuring the survival and the continued growth & development of women’s elite football in Galway and the West.
“We thank all involved in Galway WFC for the significant contribution they have made over the years.
Galway United will continue to be an all-inclusive football club, a club for all of us, and we look forward to a new chapter of men’s and women’s football in Galway.”
Galway WFC are scheduled to paly their last ever game on Saturday, 29 October when they host Peamount United at Eamonn Deacy Park.
