FAI Cup second round draw details
The draw for the second round of the 2022 FAI Cup took place on Monday afternoon as all four non-league sides received home ties against League of Ireland opposition.
Bonagee United, fresh from a 6-0 win over Pike Rovers, will face Shelbourne who eased past Bray Wanderers in the first round.
A 3-0 win for Lucan United over Killester Donnycarney has earned the Leinster Senior League side a home tie against Bohemians (who won away in Finn Park).
Treaty United will once again face non-league opponents as they travel to face Maynooth University Town. The Limerick side recorded a 5-0 win over Usher United in the last round while Maynooth beat Villa FC 2-1.
The final non-league side in the draw, Malahide United, who beat Salthill Devon 6-5 on penalties in the last round, will face Waterford who knocked out Cup holder St. Patrick’s Athletic in the last round.
There is only one all Premier Division tie as Drogheda United take on Shamrock Rovers. When the teams last met in the FAI Cup back in 2018, the Boynesiders, then a First Division club, dumped the Hoops out of the cup.
The remaining three matches pit Premier versus First Division as Derry City face the second tier leaders Cork City, Galway United take on UCD and Wexford host Dundalk.
All the ties will be played the weekend ending the 28th August.
