Mervue sign Irish youth international
Mervue United have pulled off quite a coup by adding talented goalkeeper Gerard Hanley to their squad as they prepare for their second season in the First Division.
The Ireland U-19 international spent last season as back-up to Barry Ryan at Galway United, but has now decided to join city rivals Mervue for the 2010 campaign.
Manager Tom French has been on the look-out for best local players and Hanley certainly falls into that category after repeatedly making the cut for Sean McCaffrey's Ireland under-age squads.
Now the agile shot-stopper will be aiming to hold down a regular starting spot for United as they bid to improve on last year's showing in the second tier of the League of Ireland.
Hanley has been joined by the re-signing of defenders Damian O'Rourke and Nigel Keady.
