Connor adds trio to Galway squad
Galway United manager Sean Connor has completed the signing of three more players who will vie for a place in The Tribesmen's starting line-up for their opening league fixture against St. Patrick's Athletic on March 5.
Two Scots have been added to the roster in the shape of defenders Jamie McKenzie and James Creaney, both of whom have featured prominently in United's pre-season campaign to date.
McKenzie previously had a spell at Sligo Rovers, beginning in 2006, when Connor signed the 23-year-old from Hibernian, before leaving for Cyprus where he more recently appeared for Aris Limassol.
Creaney is also linking up with Connor for the second time, as the left-back joined Dundalk last term but saw his progress hindered by injury and failed to make a league appearance.
The other new recruit is Karl Sheppard, a promising 19-year-old striker, who joins the club from Everton, having recently been among the goals for the club's reserves.
The Merseyside club beat off a host of interested parties to snap up the Irish underage international in 2007 from Shelbourne and it is as yet unclear whether the move to United is a permanent one.
These latest signings bring the number of new faces at the club since last season to seven, with more expected in the coming days.
