Bit O'Red add two more new faces
Sligo Rovers have confirmed the signings of Paul Whelan and Mark Doninger as they inch closer to completing their squad for the start of the new season.
Paul Cook has already made some impressive signings in Iarfhlaith Davoren, Gary McCabe and Padraig Amond, but has spotted some gaps in his squad that he has now filled with the captures of Whelan and Doninger.
Whelan arrives from Monaghan United, where he was a fan's favourite, and will be determined to prove himself in the Premier Division with The Bit O'Red as he aims to nail down a starting place along the backline.
Even though Sligo have some excellent midfielders in Conor O'Grady, Richie Ryan, Danny Ventre and possibly Chris Turner, they have now added Doninger, who joins from Blue Square Premier side Blyth Spartans - who recently signed former Drogheda United striker Guy Bates.
Doninger, who was the Newcastle United reserve team captain, made a big impact for Blyth last season, although he has now decided to take on a new challenge by signing with Sligo and will provide competition for places in midfield.
