Hoops keep hold of young keeper
Shamrock Rovers have ensured they will have healthy competition for the No 1 jersey this season after Robert Duggan penned a new deal.
The 22-year-old originally joined The Hoops in 2008, where he battled with Barry Murphy to be first-choice goalkeeper. Now he will compete with Alan Mannus for a starting spot.
Duggan had attracted interest from other League of Ireland clubs, but he has now agreed terms to stick with Michael O'Neill's team for 2010.
The former Stoke City trainee will hope to push Mannus all the way over the coming months because he impressed when previously given a chance for the Dublin club.
Rovers had been taking a look at Paul Murphy during pre-season as they searched for a back-up keeper, but Duggan is a perfect fit for that role.
