Murphy leaves Rebels for Hoops
Shamrock Rovers have made their second raid on Cork City after completing a deal to bring Danny Murphy to the Tallaght Stadium.
The 27-year-old enjoyed two spells at Turner's Cross, where he was a popular player with the Cork supporters, but has now made the move to Dublin after severing his ties with the Setanta Sports Cup champions.
Murphy becomes the sixth new face to link up with Rovers as Michael O'Neill continues to build a squad capable of challenging for the Premier Division title.
“We’re delighted to add Danny to our squad. Along with Dan Murray, he’s been outstanding in Cork City's defence and is an excellent professional," said O'Neill.
The ex-Motherwell ace will compete with fellow new arrival Enda Stevens for the left-back slot, while also trying to rekindle his relationship with Dan Murray in defence.
