Ian Foster has made Stephen Maher and Ross Gaynor his latest signings at Dundalk, while also announcing that Liam Burns has agreed a new contract.

The Lilywhites recently recruited centre-back Garry Breen and they have now followed that up with the captures of Maher (St Patrick's Athletic) and Gaynor (Drogheda United).

Maher, who operates at full-back on either side, had been training with the club during the off-season, while striker Gaynor was expected to be playing for Drogheda again this year before The Boynesiders hit a snag with their budget.

"I'm very happy to be here. It's such a big club, with the fans and that, it's great to be involved," Gaynor told the club's official website.

"I can't wait to get started. I want to score as many goals as I can, play well and hopefully just improve on last year. I think we can improve on the fifth place that the club achieved last year."

Regarding Maher's signing, Foster was upbeat about snapping up the former Yeovil Town player as he is a player that fill a variety of different positions.

"I'm delighted to get Stephen. He has got very good ability. He can play anywhere across the midfield and even in the full-back position. Something we're going to need this season is versatility," said Foster.

"I've followed his career and he has always impressed me, every time I've seen him play. He is 100 per cent committed, he'll compete, he'll have a tackle, and then when he gets it he'll have composure."

Meanwhile, Burns has returned to Oriel Park after agreeing terms on a new one-year deal. The former Bohemians defender spent time training with Shamrock Rovers as well as the PFAI Training Camp before Foster convinced him to come back.
