Derry City's Jack Lemoignan joins Ards on loan
21- year- old goalkeeper Jack Lemoignan has left Derry City to join Ards FC in the NIFL Championship.
Lemoignan was understudy to Nathan Gartside at the Brandywell last season but with the arrival during the close season of Brain Maher from Bray Wanderers his game time was probably going to be limited in the new season.
Manager Ruaidhri Higgins insists that regular first team football will be of huge benefit to the 21-year-old Derry native who will now be available to his new club when they face NIFL Championship side Annagh Utd on Friday night (Feb 21).
"Jack has really progressed under our goalkeeping coach Declan McIntyre,” Higgins said, speaking to the club’s media team.
“The opportunity to get game time at senior level is the next step in his development and he will come back the better for that experience. We wish him every success at Ards."
Lemoignan joins other new signings Barry Igiehon and Joe Tully at the Newtownards club where manager John Bailie will be hoping the new additions will help them climb the table from their current position of sixth and close the ten-point gap with league leaders Newry City.
