National League North side York City have announced the signing of Maxim Kouogun from Shelbourne.

The defender spent the 2021 season with Shelbourne, helping the Reds secure their return to the Premier Division as the clinched the First Division title.

“I’m delighted to be here and can’t wait to get going now,” Kouogun said, speaking to the club’s website.

“I’ve got just short of 150 appearances under my belt so I’m looking forward to bringing that experience over to England and really kick on.

“It’s a good group of lads and I just can’t wait to start playing games - I’ve got pace and other attributes I think I can bring to the team and hopefully I will do that and help the lads.

“Promotion has to be in mind – come in and get as high as possible in the table and play as many games as possible.”

The 24 year old began is career with UCD in 2014 where he had the opportunity to play in the Students Europa League campaign in 2015.

He moved to Warrenpoint Town in 2018 and had a spell with Waterford and Harrogate Town before signing for Shelbourne ahead of the 2021 season.

Kouogun is available for selection this weekend for the Minstermen’s FA Trophy fourth round fixture against Slough Town on Saturday.
