Despite only arriving back at Longford Town recently, new boss Gary Cronin has wasted little time in putting his faith in the club’s academy with the re-signings of Callum Warfield and Ben Lynch. Forward Warfield is entering his third season at the club and made his debut in July 2020, replacing Rob Manley in a goalless draw against UCD.

He set up Dean Byrne’s winner against the same opposition in the Play Offs later in the season and spoke to his club media ltfc.ie about his new deal,”I’m delighted to re-sign with Longford for a third successive season. It’s been a mixed two years with promotion and relegation, but we’re hoping as a group to emulate what we achieved in 2020 and I’m really looking forward to getting going.”

Left back Lynch arrived at Bishopsgate from Athlone Town Under 17s ahead of the 2019 season and spent time with Longford’s Under 19 squad before making his debut for the senior side in 2021, recording four appearances towards the end of the season and he, too, expressed his enthusiasm ahead of the 2022 season to ltfc.ie, “It’s great to sign up again with De Town. I’m looking to put last season behind us and bounce back and after talking to Gary, I feel we can do great things this season so I can’t wait to get started,”
