Devers returns and Timlin re-signs as Horgan builds Harps squad for 2022
Finn Harps have announced the return of Jesse Devers to the club.
The 24-year-old Mayo attacker was a key member of Ollie Horgan’s 2018 promotion winning squad following his arrival from Galway United.
Having started his career with local side Manulla FC, he joined Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer of 2013 and stayed at Molineux for two seasons before returning to Ireland in 2015.
He was part of Galway United’s squad in 2016 and 2017 before heading to Finn Park for the successful 2018 adventure - netting five goals as Harps beat Limerick 2-0 in a dramatic second leg of their promotion relegation tie.
Speaking with finnharps.com, the former Ballina Town player was full of praise, “I’m delighted to be back at the club. I haven’t enough good things to say about the people behind the scenes and how I was treated in my first spell here. I’m really excited to get started now in preseason and hopefully we’ll have a good season.”
Devers appeared as a late sub for goalscorer Mark Timlin in that encounter and the Buncrana man himself has also committed to the Ballybofey outfit for the 2022 campaign, continuing his journey as the club’s current longest serving player following his 2017 move from Derry City.
The winger has had an injury hit couple of seasons with Finn Harps of late but is looking to rediscover the form which saw him play a key part in the promotion season of 2018.
Speaking with club media, the winger said, “I’ve been really unlucky over the past couple of years with different injuries. I’ve just been focusing on keeping my head down, getting my body right and hopefully I’m over the worst of it and can hit the ground running in the New Year.”
