Ireland under-21 international Brian Maher completes move to Derry City
Derry City have added further talent to their impressive squad with the recent signing of Republic of Ireland under-21 goalkeeper Brian Maher from Bray Wanderers.
Maher makes the move to the Maiden City on a three year deal.
“Brian only turned 21 this month but he’s already making a name for himself as a quality goalkeeper,” Candystripes manager Ruaidhrí Higgins said, speaking to the club’s website.
“He has been brilliant for the Republic of Ireland under-21’s and is only going to get better in the coming years.”
“I think he is a fantastic addition to our squad, meaning we now have three excellent young goalkeepers at Derry City.”
Derry Boss Ruaidhri Higgins has had a busy week as the Candystripes battened down the signings of Will Patching, Patrick McEleney and Michael Duffy.
Now, 21-year old stopper Maher has been added to the ranks.
Maher began his career with St Patrick’s Athletic before moving to Bray Wanderers in 2020.
He was part of the side that finished as runners up in last year’s First Division and also played a part in reaching the playoff final this season with UCD ending their season last weekend.
