French confirmed as new Mervue boss
Mervue United can confirm that the club's board of directors have appointed Tom French as the new manager of the club's League of Ireland First Division team.
Tom will succeed Johnny Glynn who tendered his resignation to the board on Monday afternoon last. Tom will take up his post immediately and will be assisted by Brendan O'Connor.
The club is delighted that Tom has agreed to take over as manager of the First Division squad and is looking forward to working with him for the coming season. Tom is a former player and juvenile coach with the club, so he is well know within the club and he is also the holder of a UEFA "A" coaching licence.
On his appointment Tom French commented "I am really looking forward to the challenge, even though it has come as a bit of a surprise to me. I am looking forward to getting started and taking over from the good platform that Johnny has left for me to work on. I will also be looking to improve the squad and build on last season's finish in the First Division".
Club chairman, George Guest, said "I would like to welcome Tom to the club and look forward to working with him in the season ahead and wish him well in his new role within the club."
