Waterford snap up Kearney
Waterford United today completed the signing of former Cork City and
Derry City midfielder Liam Kearney.
The Cork native spent last season with Derry City having spent most of his League of Ireland career with Cork City, with a short spell at Shelbourne in 2006.
Derry City’s expulsion from the league left all players free agents and Waterford have stepped in to snap up the experienced winger.
Kearney is an out and out left footed winger, whose speed will no doubt be a major factor in the Blues promotion chances.
Kearney joined Nottingham Forest from his youth club Valley Rangers before returning to the League of Ireland in 2003. Kearney has played for the underage Irish national teams, from U16 to U20. He has also represented the Republic of Ireland U21 team on seven occasions, scoring once.
Manager Stephen Henderson last week also added Gareth Cambridge to his squad as he begins another promotion attempt.
